Sisu Nena Saviya — First Scholarship Awarded

The Association's "Sisu Nena Saviya" social-welfare programme — under the theme "Strength for Knowledge, Light for the Future" — awarded its first scholarship to a bright Grade 7 schoolgirl, to be paid monthly over a full year. The award was made on the morning of 22 September 2026 at 481/D, Mullegama North, with the participation of Grama Niladhari Mrs. Arangala, Secretary General M. R. Somarathna, Chief Organiser Shirley Wijesinghe, and Auditor / North Western Province Organiser Prabath Jayawickrama. The student's certificate along with this month's scholarship payment and a gift were presented, and the girl's mother was also present. As the student is a minor (about 12 years old), a standing order has been set up at the Bank of Ceylon, Homagama, so the scholarship is credited to her mother's Bank of Ceylon account on the 25th of every month. — M.
